Beaverfest is an annual whitewater paddling festival held over Labor Day weekend across three New York Rivers, attracting kayakers and rafters of all skill levels. Once inaccessible due to hydroelectric projects, the rivers were reopened for recreation thanks to a relicensing efforts spearheaded by Pete Skinner and American Whitewater, securing scheduled water releases and preserving the rivers’ unique whitewater sections. The event features thrilling rapids ranging from class 3 to class 5 across several river sections, offering challenges for both beginners and experts. Participants camp at Snow Ridge Ski Resort, enjoying amenities, bonfires, and a lively community atmosphere. With its mix of adrenaline, scenic beauty, and camaraderie, Beaverfest is a must-experience celebration of whitewater adventure and river stewardship.
